GOLIAD TIGERS AT SHINER COMANCHES
Last year: Shiner 35-7.
Notes: Shiner goes for its third straight win over Goliad.
Shiner is ranked No. 3 in the state Class 2A preseason poll.
The game will mark the head coaching debut of Goliad’s Bobby Nicholson.
Goliad advanced to the Class 3A, Division I regional playoffs for the second time in school history last season and finished with an 8-5 record. Shiner advanced to the Class 2A, Division I quarterfinals and ended last season with a 13-1 record.
Shiner defensive coordinator Billy Turek was selected as last season’s Assistant Coach of the Year by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
