Darilek was named a first team All-American by MaxPreps in the small schools division.
Darilek went 22-3 on the season and threw a perfect, five-inning game as the Lady Comanches beat Windthorst 13-0 in their state championship victory, Shiner's second straight state title. The hurler finished the season with a 1.66 ERA in 135 1/3 innings, with 141 strikeouts to 64 walks.
At the plate, Darilek hit .378 this past season with eight doubles and 25 RBIs.
And Darilek did it all with two herniated discs, surgery for which she delayed so she could play her senior year.
Darilek was named both Texas Sports Writers Association MVP and Victoria Advocate All-Area MVP for the second straight year and earned Athlete of the Year honors from the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
The four-year Shiner starter will play softball at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
LSU commit Nicky Dawson of Parkview Baptist (Baton Rouge, La.) was named Small Schools Player of the Year. Other Texas players on the second team included Clyde pitcher Bekah Chance, 3A champion West pitcher Danielle Nors and infielder Maddison Kettler and Malakoff infielder Hazel Puempel.
