Shiner runs over Riviera

THREE RIVERS - Shiner started its Class 2A, Division I bi-district playoff game at Three Rivers against Riviera Kaufer on Thursday with a a bang.
And not once did the No. 4 Comanches look back after recording a 68-0 win.
The win advances Shiner to next week's area round against the winner of Johnson City and Moody.
Led by Dadrian Taylor, the Shiner offense exploded in the first and third quarters. The Comanche offense was able to pound out 299 yards on the ground while passing for 124 yards.
Chad Neubauer, who went 10 for 65 with two touchdowns, got the offense rolling in the first quarter on a 5-yard dive into the end zone.
Taylor (11-for-75), then followed it with a 1-yard carry - one of his four touchdowns.
Quarterback Ty Boedeker found a wide-open Justin Stovall on a 55-yard touchdown pass. After another 5-yard touchdown run by Taylor, Shiner owned a commanding 27-0 lead.
The Comanche defense had an outstanding night as well, creating five turnovers.
Stovall and Caleb Oden each had an interception. Justin Stein added a fumble recovery, while Dustin Petras returned a fumble 21 yards for a third quarter score.
Taylor opened the third quarter with an 88-yard kickoff return for a quick touchdown. Backup running back Justin Stein ran for two consecutive touchdowns, one for 41 yards and another for 48 yards. That ended the scoring for the second half.
Scoring in the second quarter for Shiner was Taylor on a 10-yard dash and Neubauer's 25-yard run.
Overall, Shiner totaled 511 yards.
