Advocate all-area player of the year Mica Lamprecht was among six area players selected to the 2006 Collin Street Bakery-Texas Sports Writers Association all- state volleyball team.
Lamprecht was one of three Advocate-area players selected to the Class 1A all- state first team, while Yoakum had two players chosen to the Class 3A team and Schulenburg's Allison McNeal was the lone area player selected to the Class 2A first team.
Joining Lamprecht on the Class 1A first team were Flatonia's Kayla Dunk and Katrina Mica. All three were chosen as outside hitters/middle blockers. Lamprecht is a senior, while Dunk and Mica are juniors.
Yoakum's Cara Boening was selected as an outside hitter/middle blocker, while Lauren Adamek was chosen as the setter on the Class 3A squad. Both are seniors.
McNeal, a junior, was chosen as an outside hitter/middle blocker on the Class 2A team.
Four Advocate-area players were also named to the second team and included Wharton's Heather Reynolds and Yoakum's Katelyn Rohan in Class 3A, Hallettsville's Jade Patek in Class 2A, and Shiner's Ieisha Flowers in Class 1A. All were selected as outside hitters/middle blockers.
Earning honorable mention on the Class 3A team were Christi Ellis of Wharton and Jenna Treybig of Palacios, while on the Class 2A team were Kelly Hairell and Kim Freytag of Hallettsville, Sara Heger and Tracey Rosenauer of Weimar, and Emmy Rodgers and Mackenzie Baker of Boling.
Shiner's Alyssa Strauss and Flatonia's Chantel Velasquez was selected to the Class 1A honorable mention team.
Junior Brianne Barker of Amarillo (5A), junior Julie Causseaus of Dumas (4A), senior Taylor Campbell of Wimberley (3A), senior Aimee Huffman of Poth (2A), and junior Toni Shelton of Collinsville (1A) were selected as players of the year in their respective classes.
