POTH - Shiner took an early lead against Poth and never looked back, beating the Pirates 24-6 in each team's season opener.

Shiner opened the scoring late in the first quarter when Kevin Berger caught a 15-yard scoring pass from Comanche quarterback Trey Curtis.

The two-point conversion attempt failed.

Curtis completed two of his five pass attempts in the game for a total of 23 yards.

The second quarter brought more points for Shiner when Chris Baer scored on a 2-yard run and Scott Shimek nailed a field goal of 26 yards.

Baer ended the game as the leading rusher with 109 yards. He was followed closely by Kenzley Wright with 105 yards.

Poth scored in the last minute of the quarter with a pass from Braden Boening to Jerry Alfaro.

Baer added the last touchdown on a 10-yard run with less than two minutes to go in the third quarter.
