Shiner falls to Burton

BURTON - After coming from behind, Shiner lost its only game of the regular season, falling 28-21 to Burton in a District 27-1A finale.
Burton scored first when Brandon Patterson scored on a 53-yard first-quarter run. But, barely more than a minute later, the Comanches came back on an Adam Kalich 33-yard run.
However, Burton commanded the second quarter, scoring on a 12-yard run by Deodrick Bradley and a 14-yard from Brandon Patterson. Burton went into halftime with a 21-7 lead over the undefeated Comanches.
Shiner scored early in the third when quarterback Matthew Hibbs hit Tyler Forest for a 48-yard touchdown.
Shiner tied the game at 21 midway through the fourth when Kalich broke a 55-yard run.
However, Burton's running game was too much for Shiner when Daniel Patterson scored on a 39-yard run with little more than three minutes remaining.
Burton (7-2, 4-1) was able to generate 352 yards rushing, the bulk of which came from Brandon Patterson's 184 yards on 16 carries, and Daniel Patterson's 137 yards on 18 carries.
Adam Kalich had a big night for Shiner (8-1, 4-1), rushing 139 yards on 13 carries.
