PETTUS EAGLES AT SHINER COMANCHES
LAST YEAR: Pettus, 13-6.
NOTES: Pettus (4-0) opens District 31-1A play at Shiner (2-3, 1-0). Shiner beat Louise 42-7 in its district opener last week and can maintain at least a share of the district lead with a win. Pettus handed Shiner its only district loss last season, snapping Shiner's 14-game district winning streak. Shiner has won 14 straight district games at home dating back to 2001. Pettus is coming off a bye week and is ranked No. 25 in the Texas Football poll. Shiner's three losses were to Class 2A teams and it has outscored its Class 1A opponents 55-10. Pettus has the district's top-ranked offense (364.3 yards per game) and defense (182.8). Pettus' Jake Stanley has passed for 561 yards and nine touchdowns.
CHARLOTTE TROJANS AT FLATONIA BULLDOGS
LAST YEAR: Flatonia, 27-6.
NOTES: Flatonia (3-2, 1-0) can maintain at least a share of the District 31-1A lead with a win at Woodsboro (1-4, 0-1). Flatonia has won four straight against Woodsboro. Flatonia opened district play with a 22-12 win over previously unbeaten Charlotte and was named Texas Football's Army Strong Team of the Week for Class 1A. Woodsboro lost 48-17 in its district opener against Falls City. Flatonia's Jordan Williams has passed for 732 yards and five touchdowns and Adrian Lighteard has rushed for 446 yards and six touchdowns.
LOUISE HORNETS AT CHARLOTTE TROJANS
LAST YEAR: Louise, 47-0.
NOTES: Louise (3-2, 0-1) and Charlotte (4-1, 0-1) look to bounce back after losing their District 31-1A openers. Louise lost 42-7 to Shiner and Charlotte lost 22-12 to Flatonia. Louise had surrendered a total of 39 points in its first four games. Charlotte is ranked second in defense in the district, yielding an average of 183.8 yards per game. Louise's Kyle Lawson has rushed for 588 yards and eight touchdowns. Louise's Chris Hicks and Cory Hajovsky each have three interceptions.
