FLORESVILLE - Shiner had 11 hits and rolled to a 12-2 win over Ben Bolt
in the first game of a best-of-three Class 1A area playoff series on Wednesday night.
The Comanches improved to 17-8 and will try to wrap up the series when the
teams return here for Game 2 on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Game 3, if necessary,
will also be played here on Saturday at 2 p.m.
The Comanches failed to score in the first two innings but struck for
four runs in the third, added one in the fourth before ending the game
via the 10-run mercy rule with seven in the fifth.
"Once we got our timing down at the plate, we started hitting the ball,"
said Shiner coach Daniel Boedeker. "We made the adjustments and hit the
ball real well. Garet (Pustka) pitched a good game and we played good
defense behind him"
