In 2003, Chris Baer rushed for 1724 yards on 232 carries, placing him third on the list of returning rushers from 2003. Baer also accounted for one-fourth of Shiner's points in 2003, scoring 23 touchdowns. Chris was also a defensive standout in 2003, recording 122 tackles. His accomplishments on a team that were state runner-ups in 2003 earned Baer several individual accomplishments. He was named District 30-A Most Valuable Player, Second Team TSWA all-state running back, and Third Team TSWA all-state linebacker. Baer's high numbers in 2003 leaves high expectations for the 2004 season, while looking for a state championship that escaped him and his team mates in 2003.
