Williams ran for a pair of touchdowns as Shiner broke a 6-6 tie to defeat the Eagles 22-6 Friday night ( December 5, 2025 ) at Hutton Memorial Stadium.
The Comanches now play in the state semifinals for the second year in a row and are set to play Mount Enterprise at 7 p.m. Friday ( December 12, 2025 ) in New Caney.
After scoring on their first possession of the game, the Shiner offense stalled out for the rest of the first half, hampered by penalties but scored on the opening second-half possession, got a another score and made the plays to move the ball as needed.
"We came out (in the second half) after talking about some of the things we did wrong in the first half," Williams said. "We were shooting ourselves in the foot with too many penalties but came out and executed better in the second half."
Shiner's offensive line found a way to get a push and that helped the backs get yards.
"Those two touchdowns were huge. We were able to make some big runs and move the chains," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. "It was tough sledding up front. We knew our offensive line would have a battle on our hands. We challenged them to find a way to win. We are not going to win every play but try to find a way to win on the line of scrimmage and get some positive plays; we were going to have some negative plays but were not going to dwell on them; we found ways to get positive plays."
After a touchdown late in the first quarter, the Eagles were kept out of the endzone for the remainder of the game.
"It was tough but our defense played lights out in the second half," Boedeker said. "Junction has a really good offense but our kids found a way to win. We knew it would be a battle in the trenches up front. We were able to get some pressure on the quarterback and our secondary guys did a good job on the back end of coverage.

He can deny it if he wants, but Junction's Brock Bierschwale is simply not getting by Comanche defensive back Jake Simper on this play in Shiner's 22-6 win over the Eagles in the state quarterfinals.
"I'm proud of the whole group. We knew we would have to play good defense because Junction is good on defense themselves and we knew it would be tough to score."
Shiner returned the second-half kickoff to their 46 and ran three times for 9 yards, facing a 4th-and-1 at the Eagle 45. Williams optioned to the right, reached the edge and turned up field for a 45-yard touchdown run with Quincy Jones running up the middle for a two-point conversion and a 14-6 Shiner advantage with 9:59 left in the third quarter.

The Comanches then drove 54-yards in 11 plays and over five minutes. A pass-interference call on Junction and a 4-yard run by Williams on 4th-and-3 from the Junction 31 helped keep the drive going. With third down at the Junction 23, Williams ran a speed option from the gun, pitching to Tyler Harvey who reached the 6 and Williams scored on the next play; Clayton Fric ran for the two-point play for a 22-6 lead with 8:47 left to play.
The teams traded punts until Junction again crossed the 50, but quarterback Chasen Doyal's pass was intercepted by Boe Boehm with about four minutes left in the game.
