The Shiner Comanches return to the regional final for the first since 2021.
They will battle the Junction Eagles at 7 p.m. today at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.
The last time the teams met was in the 2008 post season in the Class 1ADI regional round with the Eagles winning 21-14.
Shiner won the regional semifinal game last week against Granger 43-23 while Junction blanked Somerville 32-0.
The Eagles currently sit at 12-1 and were the 14-2ADII district winners with a 6-0 record.
Both teams have common opponents in Brackett and Falls City. The Eagles beat Brackett in district play 38-14 while Shiner was 54-7 winners over the Tigers in the area round.
Shiner took care of Falls City 21-3 in district play and the Beavers played Junction in the area round, with Junction winning 35-13.
Junction is very potent on offense scoring nearly 47 points a game and equally stout on defense with opponents scoring just under 11 points a game.
"This is going to be a difficult game. Junction is still playing at this time of the season for a reason. They have a lot of experience with every starter back from last year on both sides of the football," Comanches head coach Daniel Boedeker said.
The Eagles spread offense is very balanced.
Boedeker said they will run lots of counters, power and option.
Running backs Aidan Cardwell and Korren Hoing will get majority of the rushes.
Tight end Bode Bierschwale and wide receiver Caden Roberts will be the main receiving threats from quarterback Chasen Doyal.
"It will be key to play very well on defense and especially winning the line of scrimmage," Boedeker said. "We will need to key in on Cardwell and Hoing."
Junction runs the '50' on defense.
"Their defense is very athletic and fast. One of the fastest defenses we will have faced," he said. "Their linebackers get downhill fast and they have athletic defensive backs. Their defense gets off blocks quickly so we will need to stay on our blocks, put together some drives and score when we have the chance," Boedeker said.
