Both the Shiner Comanches and St. Paul Cardinals will play district opponents this holiday week in their respective rounds of the playoffs.
SHINER COMANCHES VS. SCHULENBURG SHORTHORNS
The Comanches play a rematch with Schulenburg Shorthorns at 7 p.m. Friday ( November 26, 2021 ) at Brahmas Memorial Stadium in Hallettsville in the regional semifinal.
Schulenburg opened the playoffs by beating Mason 29-16 in the bi-district round and notched a 37-12 win over Kenedy last week in the area round. Shiner has won both its playoff games by considerable margins, beating Harper 76-6 and Three Rivers 63-7.
The Comanches closed out the regular season three weeks ago against the Shorthorns, winning 46-2.
"I expect they will do what they did in the regular-season game with some wrinkles. They have a few key players back from injury including an offensive lineman, offensive skilled position and outside linebacker all who did not play on Nov. 5," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said.
"On offense, we need to establish the line of scrimmage as their size on the defensive line caused some trouble for us. Defensively, we need to tackle well in space."
