LA VERNIA - Doug Brooks ran for 175 yards and four touchdowns while Dalton Brooks had 134 yards and three touchdowns to pace Shiner to a 63-7 win over Three Rivers in the area round game in La Vernia.

Quarterback Drew Wenske went 4-for-5 passing with 120 yards and two touchdowns to Eli Fric who had 88 yards on two catches with touchdown receptions of 13 and 75.

Shiner held the Bulldogs to just 51 yards of offense and Three Rivers points came off a Comanche turnover.

Shiner opened scoring seven seconds into the game on a 56-yard run by Doug Brooks. He added a 3-yard run at the 9:49 mark of the first quarter.

Dalton Brooks had a 9-yard scoring rush at the 6:16 mark and Wenske hit Fric for a 13-yard touchdown with 59 seconds left in the quarter for a 28-0 lead.

Fric and Wenske teamed up again less than three minutes in the second period on a 75-yard pass. Doug Brooks scored on a 1-yard run (6:58) and Dalton Brooks added touchdown runs of 34 and 49 in the last 3:19 of the half.

Doug Brooks scored on a 72-yard jaunt halfway through the third quarter; the 'Dogs erased the donut on the board as Kaiyden Inman intercepted Hunter Knight and returned it 29 yards ofr a score with 6:10 left in the game.
