The Shiner Comanches scored 35 points in the first quarter of their district home opener Friday against Weimar and rolled to a complete 70-0 destruction of the Wildcats.

The Comanches scored on 10 of 11 offensive possessions, and the defense forced Weimar to punt 10 times and recovered a Wildcat fumble.

For the second district game in a row, the Comanches got a scoreboard shutout and held the opponent to negative- yards rushing.

"Our kids came out with a lot of energy as you have to play your best in every district game," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. "I did not like the penalties we had but they were because we played aggressive. We did well in all three phases of the game and I am happy with the overall performance."

The Comanches (8-0, 2-0) scored just 21 seconds into the game on the first offensive play, a 57-yard run by Dalton Brooks.

The defense contained Weimar on its opening drive with a couple of tackles for loss and an incomplete pass. Weimar punted to its own 46 and Shiner scored again on the opening play of a drive, this time quarterback Drew Wenske had a 46- yard strike to tight end Tyler Bishop.

Weimar's second punt went into Comanche land, at the 38. Doug Brooks had a 46-yard carry to the 16 and scored from the 3 three plays later. Shiner's next drive started at the Wildcat 38 - Wenske had a 31-yard run to the 7 and Doug Brooks had a 6-yard rush to the 1 that was called back for holding, moving Shiner back to the 11.

Four plays later, Doug Brooks scored from the 1 on fourth down for a 28-0 lead.

Weimar's next punt pinned Shiner inside their own 40 before Wenske found Tyler Bishop for a 64-yard catch from his 32 to the 'Cat 2 and Beck Bishop scored on the next play to conclude the scoring onslaught of the first frame.

Beck Bishop scored on a 40-yard run barely 70 seconds into the second period for a 42-0 lead.

A few minutes later Shiner had a negative-yard rush after a fumble but recovered with 14 and 40-yard runs by Wenske and a 12-yard scoring run by Trace Bishop for a 49-0 lead with 7:26 left in the first half. His 5-yard run at the 1:43 mark of the second put Shiner ahead 56-0.

With a running clock in the second half, Trace Bishop scored on a 6-yard run late in the third frame and backup quarterback Hunter Knight capped scoring with a 4-yard run with 4:25 left to play.

Angel San Martin took over extra-point duties in the second half as Ryan Peterson went 8-for-8 in the first half.

Each team lost a fumble in the second half. With 3:56 left in the game, Weimar found a little bit of a spark as Cole Duty went 4-for-6 to rack up about 59 passing yards but the clock ran out before Weimar could get one in the end zone.
