Second-round games on tap for Comanches, Cardinals

Shiner and St. Paul play Thanksgiving-weekend playoff games ( on Friday November 23, 2018 ).

The Shiner St. Paul Cardinals will play the Beaumont Legacy Prep Warriors and the Shiner Comanches will face the Hearne Eagles.

The Comanches match up to Hearne Eagles at 1 p.m. Friday ( November 23, 2018 ) in Giddings.

“Hearne is a very athletic team. They have been putting a lot of points on the board,” Shiner head coach Steven Cerny said. “Some of their games have been shootouts and they have lost a couple of close, high- scoring games.”

The Eagles run a spread offense and are led by sophomore quarterback Micah Smith and senior running back Anquan Boxley.

“Boxley is really quick and will need to be gang tackled,” Cerny said. Hearne goes with the 5-2 on defense, is big on the interior line and has speed throughout the rest of the defense.

Shiner’s offensive key will be another solid game from its offensive line to provide room to run for the running backs.
