The Comanches have an open date this Friday and will host Wallis Brazos next week in a game that Shiner can clinch an outright district title.
The scoring started less than three minutes into the game after Kenedy completed a 55-yard pass on the game’s first play and got inside the Shiner 10. Devin Lehnert picked off a pass inside his own end zone and went coast-to-coast for a 7-0 Shiner lead.
Lehnert scored again as Kenedy punted on the next drive and he took it for a 72-yard touchdown on the return at the 8:19 mark.
Shiner scored its first offensive touchdown on a 1-yard Donyai Taylor run with 5:04 left in the quarter. The Comanches scored twice more in the first period — a 7-yard run by Taylor and 49-yard pass from Tyler Mikes to Cole Patek.
