Shiner Comanches at Refugio Bobcats
Shiner will travel to Refugio to play the No. 6 Bobcats this Friday night ( November 10, 2017 ). With both teams undefeated in district, the winner of this matchup will get the 15-2A-DI crown.
For the Comanches, their district effort has all led up to this game: the game that will decide the championship. Shiner’s defense will have to make the Bobcats grind out every yard.
“Refugio will move the ball. Not too many teams have been able to stop them,” Shiner head coach Steven Cerny said. “We have to prevent big plays and get some stops. Our defense has been playing extremely well lately.” Refugio spreads the ball around to all of its backs and the mutiple offense is led by quarterback Jared Kelley.
The Comanche offense will need a great game from the line to produce yards.
“We’ll have to get some push,” Cerny said. “We cannot get in long downs, make careless penalties and just have to get positive yards to move the ball. Probably won’t get a long run against them.”
He said the ‘Cats’ defense is big and strong up front led by Armonie Brown.
“Lately, we’ve played Refugio really well. Last year, they got an early jump on us,” Cerny said. “I know our kids will rise to the challenge.”
