Comanches shut out Weimar

The Shiner defense got its first scoreboard shutout of the season with a 28-0 win at rival Weimar on Thursday. Shiner intercepted a pass and returned a fumble for a touchdown while limiting the Wildcats to 204 yards.
On the offensive side, Donyai Taylor ran for 75 yards and two touchdowns while Tyler Mikes hit 2-for-2 passes for 30 yards and one touchdown.
Jacob Cowan had 57 yards on nine carries; Cesar Reyes added 23 yards on three carries; Mikes ran for 22 yards, Lane Nevlud had 19 yards and Tyler Palmer had 13 yards rushing. Cowan had one catch for 19 yards and Cole Patek had one for 11 yards.
After a scoreless first quarter, Taylor scored on a 46-yard run with 3:40 left in the first half and the Comanches added another scored as Mikes connected with Cole Patek on an 11-yard pass.
Shiner scored twice in the third box — Michael Rodriguez returned a fumble 65 yards for the score less than two minutes into the third and Taylor had a 12-yard run with 5:17 left in the quarter.
The Comanches’ next game is tomorrow (Friday, October 27, 2017) at home against Yorktown. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
