The Shiner Comanches hit the district ground running as they opened with a 54-0 win at Kenedy Friday night.

The Comanches (4-2, 1-0) led 33-0 after the first quarter and never let up, taking a 47-0 halftime advantage.

Dadrian Taylor opened scoring with a 76-yard run at the 10:07 mark of the first quarter and Brandon Cerny added a 34-yard at 8:10, giving Shiner a 12-0 advantage.

Shiner's next three touchdowns came through in air as Cerny connected with Taylor (10 yards, 4:08), Caleb Oden (36 yards, 3:44) and Ty Boedeker (51 yards, 0:29) for scores in the first with two extra points by Cole Jalufka and one by Connor Machicek.

In the second quarter, Cerny had a 13-yard run and Charles Haynes scored on a 24-yard run.

The final touchdown came with 3:23 left in the third box as Dequan Hall scored on a 1-yard run.

The Shiner defense limited the Lions to 79 yards and five first downs while forcing two turnovers.
