The Shiner Comanches put together a complete game as they blanked Falls City Beavers 48-0 Friday evening at Comanches Stadium.

"I thought it was a great performance from both sides of the ball," Shiner head coach Steven Cerny said.

The Comanches (3-1) were well on the path to victory before the game. "I was very pleased with how we came out," Cerny said. "We were very focused in pregame. Our overall speed and quickness really showed tonight. That was one of the biggest advantages we had over them.

Shiner had a solid performance from its offense, with 297 yards rushing and 107 through the air. "Our offense has been approving every week," Cerny said. "Our main concern was our offensive line. They are getting better and better; they are picking up stunts better. They gave us time to throw the ball and mix things up."

One of the main characteristics of Cerny’s Comanches is always a great effort on defense no matter the opponent and Shiner lived up to that standard by holding Falls City to 108 totals yards and just seven first downs.

The Beavers did manage to take the secondhalf kickoff and use nearly three quarters of the third quarter to get the ball inside the Shiner 20 but came away with zero points on that lengthy drive.

"We challenged our defense to try to keep a zero on Falls City’s side of the board. We bent a little bit in the second half but overall, they were steady all night," Cerny said.

"Our defense has been giving up too many yards lately and too many points but tonight they rose to the occasion."

Shiner opened the game with a six-play, 66 yard drive that ended with a 26-yard touchdown run by Dadrian Taylor.

Shiner fumbled the ball away on its next series but struck oil on its next four possessions -— Taylor had a touchdown rushes for 42, 37 and 15 yards. And with just a few seconds left in the first half, Brandon Cerny found Ty Boedeker for a touchdown and the Comanches were in control at 35-0.

Falls City got the second-half kickoff, starting at their 25. Derrick Gonzalez took over from Keyshawn Johnson at quarterback. Gonzalez had seven or eight carries, with Dillion Dziuk taking a couple of handoffs and Gonzalez throwing a couple of passes.

Falls City eventually found itself at fourth down and 2 at the Shiner 15 after a nearly nine- minute drive. Gonzalez completed a ball to Collin Dziuk but the Shiner defense held Dziuk to a 2-yard gain, short of the first down and the Beavers’ best chance of scoring in the game.

Tyler Mikes led the Comanche reserve offense to some fourth-quarter touchdowns, after Shiner had to punt on its first second-half possession.

Mikes had a 9-yard run with 9:45 left in the game to fi nish a 51-yard drive that he set up with an interception.

Scoring was concluded with 3:15 left in the game as Dequan Hall’s 7-yard run finished a 36-yard drive that was setup by Shiner defense forcing another turnover.
