Game Preview: Falls City Beavers at Shiner

In their second straight home game, the Shiner Comanches will host former rivals Falls City Beavers at 7:30 p.m. Friday ( September 16, 2016 ) at Comanches Stadium.

"In the early 2000’s, Shiner vs Falls City would usually determine first place in the district," Comanches head coach Steven Cerny said. "We are looking forward to this game."

While not exceptionally fast, the Beavers are overall a fast team as well as big and discliplined. Falls City defense is mainly four or five-man fronts but they can mix it up.

On offense, they are multiple – Wing T, double tight end, shotgun.

"Our defense has to stop the run, play very physical up front and we have to stop the big play," Cerny said. Cerny is looking for good execution and consistency from the Shiner offense.

"We need to stay away from penalties and fire off the ball low as we are facing a strong and big defensive line," he said.

NOTE: At halftime of the game, past Shiner state championship teams from football, baseball and softball will be honored.
