Coach Michelle Winkenwerder described the day as "one of the most memorable races Shiner has ever been associated with running."
The 2A girls race was scheduled for 2:40 p.m. with 10 races ahead of them on the same muddy course. By the time it was Shiner’s turn to run, the course was in very poor condition.
Grosenbacher and Kloesel persevered through the rough conditions and overcame slips, falls, and mud-caked shoes to finish the race, Maggie in 91st place with a time of 15:52 and Brooke in 114th with a time of 16.24.
