The Shiner Comanches continued their undefeated season with a 33-0 win over Rice Consolidated at Altair Friday (September 25, 2015).
Shiner jumped out to a quick lead with touchdowns on their first two drives of the game, first on a 59-yard run by Dadrian Taylor and then on a 58-yard run by Brandon Cerny.
The Comanches added another 6 points on a 2-yard Taylor run to send them into halftime with a comfortable 19-0 lead.
It was a quiet third quarter for the Shiner offense, but they added two more rushing touchdowns early in the fourth, one from Cerny and the other from Charles Haynes. Cole Jalufka kicked 3 successful extra points in 5 attempts.
Shiner racked up 350 rushing yards while holding the Raiders to just 53 rushing yards and 80 passing yards on the night. Cerny led the way with 99 yards on 8 carries, Taylor had 98 yards on 11 touches, and Haynes added 69 yards on 7.
Cerny also completed 7 of his 12 pass attempts for 53 yards, and Ty Boedeker intercepted a Raider pass and returned it 42 yards.
The 5-0 Comanches, ranked No. 4 in the AP Class 2A state poll and No. 4 by Harris, will take this week off before opening district against the fifth ranked Refugio Bobcats on Friday, Oct. 9.
