The Comanches and Lady Comanches finished up a highly successful season with strong performances at the Class 2A UIL State Track and Field Championships in Austin on Friday and Saturday (May 15-16, 2015).

By the end of the weekend, the Lady Comanches had racked up 37 team points, good enough for a fourth place finish in Class 2A overall, and the Comanches earned state recognition in the relays and the long jump as well.

Maggie Grosenbacher won bronze medals in the 3200-meter run and 800-meter run. She ran a personal best of 2:18.48 in the 800.

Kassidy Bishop competed in three events at the state meet. She finished seventh in the long jump at 16 feet 1.75 inches, eighth in the triple jump at 34 feet 4 inches, and ran eighth in the 200-meter dash at 26.82.

Kori Landman threw the discus 115' 3" for sixth place in the event.

Sabrina Blaschke jumped 16 feet 2", good for sixth place in the long jump.

Rashel Bonds placed fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.39.

Mackinly Pilat ran the 300-meter hurdles, finishing in sixth place at 46.56.

The girls 4x200-meter relay team of Kassidy Bishop, Emily Hamilton, Sabrina Blaschke and Rashel Bonds captured a silver medal by placing second with a time of 1:44.18. Shiner's alternate runners for this race were Emily Gamez & Jenna Berkovsky.

The team of Blaschke, Hamilton, Pilat and Bishop (backed by alternates Bonds & Gamez) finished fifth in the 4x100-meter relay at 50.43.

And Grosenbacher, Blaschke, Pilat and Bonds brought the baton home in ninth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:23.67. Alternates for the 4x400 were Berkovsky & Gamez.


For the boys, Dadrian Taylor leaped 21 feet 7.75 inches in the long jump, good for sixth place. He joined teammates Justin Stovall, Chad Neubauer and Ty Boedeker in the 4x200-meter relay, finishing seventh at 1:31.94 (backed up by alternates Bobby Stasney & Charles Haynes). The same team ran eighth in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:30.73 (supported by alternates Ethan Berger & Wyatt Rankin).
