Following the opening kickoff, Bryan Franklin got the call on third
down and raced 76 yards for a touchdown to put Shiner up 6-0.
The Comanches never looked back as they went on to beat Agua Dulce, 36-6,
at Memorial Stadium in Victoria and advance to the regional playoff against
Burkeville.
Burkeville is the team that eliminated Shiner from the playoffs last year in
a 4l-8 blowout which the Comanches will be out to avenge this Friday.

Robbie Pavelka (holding the ball) recovered an Agua Dulce fumble in the
end zone last Friday for a touchdown. Helping him celebrate were team
members Ryan Spann, Devin Carroll, Kelsey Pohler and Jeremy Burchell.
|
After Franklin's touchdown, the Shiner defense forced a Longhorn punt and
the Comanches were in good field position at the Agua Dulce 40-yard line.
Franklin kept the drive alive with a 12-yard gain on third down. Garet Pustka
then scored on a 21-yard run. Franklin ran in the two-point conversion and
Shiner led 14-0.
After an exchange of punts (two by Shiner and three by Agua Dulce),the Comanches
drove to the Longhorn 2-yard line where Justin Jurecek recovered a fumble to stop
the drive.

The mistake didn't hurt the Comanches this time as Longhorn quarterback Josh
Jurecek lost the ball on the first play and Shiner's Robbie Pavelka recovered the
fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. Eric Murphy split the uprights for the
PAT and Shiner was up 21-0 with 6:23 left in the first half.
The Longhorns responded with a 75-yard drive, highlighted by Josh Jurecek's
49-yard run, resulting in a 16-yard touchdown run by Justin Jurecek. The PAT kick
was no good but Agua Dulce cut the lead to 21-6 as the half ended.

Eric Murphy stiff arms his way out of the grasp of the defender,
while several Comanches head upfield to provide blocking.
|
The second half started with two Agua Dulce punts and another Shiner fumble.
The Comanches finally put together a 77-yard scoring drive with 2:07 left in the
third period.
Franklin set up the score with a 37-yard scamper to the Longhorn 1 with Pustka
scoring on the next play. Murphy's kick was no good but Shiner extended its lead
to 27-6.
Following Agua Dulce's 7th punt of the game, Pustka's touchdown pass to Franklin
was nullified by a holding penalty forcing a Shiner punt.
The kick was downed on the Longhorn 2-yard line. Shawn Flores then sacked Jurecek
for a safety to add to Shiner's lead.
