In one of the longest games played at Comanche Stadium in regulation time the Shiner Comanches beat the Louise Hornets, 70-12, in a District 30-1A contest.

Twenty-six pass incompletions and numerous penalties lengthened the game to over three hours.

Quentin Wright scored four touchdowns for the Comanches, while Chris Baer, who rushed for 138 yards on 12 carries, scored three times.

Wright had touchdown runs of one and three yards and punt returns of 68 and 87 yards for two more scores.

Baer, who opened the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown early in the game, also scored on runs of 18 yards and one yard.

Shiner's opening possession set the tone of the game as the Comanches used four plays to score their first of 10 touchdowns of the game..

The 56-yard drive included three carries by Wright to set up Baer's 7-yard touchdown run. The Hornets answered with a 40-yard drive capped by a 36-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Trey Sulak to David Manzano.

The extra point kick was blocked and Nick Evans picked up the loose ball and raced 95 yards into the end zone for two points to give Shiner a 9-6 lead.

Two minutes later, Shiner scored again on a 3-yard run by Wright. The 59-yard drive was highlighted by a 29-yard pass play from Pustka to Baer and a 21-yard run by Pustka to set up Wright's TD.

Shiner's next drive started on their 4-yard line. After a yard pick up by Pustka, Baer carried three times to the Louise 29 as the quarter ended.

Pustka picked up 28 and then drove in to the end zone from 1 yard out. Scott Shimek, who kicked eight extra points, split the uprights for a 23-6 lead.

It seemed like the Hornets were on their way back with an apparent 60-yard pass play for a touchdown, but a personal foul penalty cancelled the play and Louise was back deep in their end of the field.

After an exchange of punts, the Hornets were again on the move to the Comanche 30 when Wright broke up the momentum with an interception, giving the Comanches the ball on the Louise 35.

Five plays later Baer, behind a good block by Wright, scored on an 18-yard run and the score at halftime was 30-6.

The Comanches were flagged twice on Louise's next possession enabling the Hornets to score with 9:50 left in the third. Jordan Gresham took it in from five yards out.

Wright then sealed the win, scoring three touchdowns in a span of 3-1/2 minutes. Wright scored on a 4-yard run and then had punt returns of 68 and 87 yards for touchdowns to up the score to 58-12 going into the final quarter.

The Comanche defense was relentless the rest of the game, keeping the Hornets out of the end zone.

The offensive unit, meanwhile, tacked on two more touchdown to make the final 70-12.

Casey Coleman caught a 15-yard pass from Pustka and Kenzley Wright had a 2-yard touchdown run,

The Comanche offensive line did a good job of blocking all night to clear the way for the outside runs as Shiner racked up 26 first downs and 513 total yards on 53 plays. The Hornets made 10 first downs and 229 total yards on 56 plays

The Comanche defense kept the Hornet's running game in check and made some good adjustments in the secondary to stymie Sulak's passing attack.

This week, Shiner travels to Runge, while Louise hosts the Flatonia Bulldogs.
