The first quarter in the Shiner-Louise game took up a lot of time but resulted in only three points. Drew Stafford's 28-yard field goal with :40 left in the quarter gave Shiner a 3-0 lead.

It was Stafford's' 46-yard field goal with :03 left in the game that gave the Comanches a 20-18 win over the Hornets in the first district game of the year.

Louise took the opening kick off and ran nine plays but had to punt from their 41. A short 23-yard punt gave the Comanches the ball on their 36. Twelve plays later Shiner was still on the move but faced a fourth down on the 10-yard line.

Stafford's 8-yard pass to Brady Beal and a 15-yard toss to Tyler Forest, along with a 22-yard run by Evel Jones, kept the drive going before stalling on the 10. Facing fourth down, The Comanches salvaged three points with Stafford's field goal.

The Hornets had to punt to start the second quarter. A short punt, fumbled by Shiner but recovered by Dillon Pesek, gave the ball to the Comanches on the Louise 22-yard line.

The short drive was capped by a 17-yard touchdown pass from Stafford to Curtis Shields. Stafford booted the PAT and Shiner led 10-0 with 6:29 left in the half.

Neither team had much success the rest of the half and the score remained 10-0.

Louise recovered a Shiner fumble early in the third quarter which led to a 10-play, 53-yard drive for a touchdown for the Hornets. Desmond Pulliam scored on a 1-yard run.

Coy Boedeker blocked the extra point and the score stood at 10-6.

Shiner had to punt and the third quarter ended with the Hornets on the Shiner 31-yard line. Coy Boedeker recovered a fumble on the first play of the fourth period and returned it 62 yards for a Comanche touchdown. Stafford's PAT upped the score to 17-6.

Clint Berrera has no place to go as eight Comanches cover the Hornet running back.

Louise battled back and eight plays later, Clint Berrera capped a 75-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. The 2-point conversion try was no good and Shiner still led, 17-12 with 7:12 left in the game.

Justin Carrillo recovered a Shiner fumble on his 28-yard line, giving the Hornets another offensive opportunity. The Hornets marched 72 yards on 12 plays and scored on a 26-yard pass from Berrera to Trey Koudela. Again the 2-point conversion failed, but with 1:27 left, Louise had taken an 18-17 lead.

Shiner started their final possession on their 33 and had little time to cover the 67 yards to pay dirt. Stafford completed a pass to Josh Greathouse for 10 yards and then on fourth down he hit Curtis Shields for a 12-yard gain to the Louise 41. Greathouse picked up two more yards but a penalty set the Comanches back to the 44-yard line. Stafford completed a pass to Shields to the 29 and with just :03 seconds left, Stafford booted the winning field goal.

Evel Jones was the leading rusher for Shiner with 69 yards on 3 carries. Greathouse had 28, Shields 22 and Stafford 12. Stafford completed 7-of-11 passes for 85 yards with Shields catching three for 44 yards and one touchdown.

Louise's Desmond Pulliam was the game's leading rusher with 130 yards on 24 carries. Daniel Sulak had 55 yards rushing and Clint Berrera had 24. The Hornets completed just two passes, one of which was the 26-yard toss to Koudela for the touchdown.
