The game is set for 7:30pm at Comanche Stadium.
"We had a good overall performance by the entire team against Yoakum," said Coach Steve Cerny.
"It was a pretty good match up until they finally wore us down," he added.
Overall, he said, everyone was pleased with the effort and result.
This year's roster of 25 players includes 13 seniors led by quarterback Garet Pustka.
Kenzley Wright finds a hole in the middle for yardage in Friday's scrimmage.
Pustka will be relying on Chris Baer, Steven Evans and Kenzley Wright in the ground game and has a host of receivers when it comes to the passing game.
Senior Brady Strauss centers the offensive line which averages over 200 pounds.
Chris Baer pulls in a pass that was good for a score against Yoakum.
Coach Cerny expects a physical game against Poth. "They had a JV that went 8-1 last year so they have a good young group coming up," he said.
Coach Cerny also said the Shiner coaching staff is "a good mix of coaches." Cerny, Billy Turek, Daniel Boedeker and David Goetz have all worked together before and newcomer Wendell Boner "brings in the fire that's needed in the line."
