The Refugio Bobcats advance in the 2A playoffs with a 17-14 upset over Shiner at Alamo Stadium.
Alan Harwell, Sports Anchor, KRIS-TV6 Friday Night Fever:
"All right everybody, welcome back. The Refugio Bobcats took on Shiner in the Class 2A quarterfinals up in San Antonio tonight. This was a rematch from earlier this year. The Bobcats lost that game, so you know they were looking for some redemption tonight.
"Let's get right to it ... and here we go. At the Alamo Stadium ... playing outdoors tonight ... and you see the Bobcats coming on, and there's Shiner. Early on, I'm telling you ... it did not look good, because Shiner looked like the best team tonight. Early on ... look at him ... that's a 77-yard touchdown run to start the game. And all of a sudden, you begin to wonder, 'Uh-oh ... it's going to be one of those nights.' And Shiner is on the board leading 7 to nothing.
"But Refugio would not give up. They kept clawin' back. They kick a field goal and they get to within 7 to 3. And they they would .. ah ... whoa, what a hit that was.
"They were able to wind up winning it late in this football game. Let's update it for you ... Refugio winds up winning 17-14. They advance now to Class 2A State Finals."
