Matt Pohler of Shiner placed tied for fourth place with Grapeland’s Cameron Boyd in his Class 1A state tournament debut. Pohler carded a 75 on the first day and scored an 82 on the second.

The Flatonia Bulldogs placed seventh in the team standings as they carded a 385 on Day One and a 364, 19 strokes better, on the second day. Team members are Karl Steinhauser, Zane Ponder, Cody Jeter and Larry Vire.
In the Class 2A boys tournament, Nixon’s Nathan Morris was in 22nd place after he put up a pair of 79s.
The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs golf team of Laken Garza, Erin Jirkovsky, Kayli Garber, Beth Moehlman and Katherine Hull combined to shoot 372 for the first day of the girls 3A state golf tournament for seventh place. The Lady ‘Dogs improved by three strokes for a 369 on the second day to total 741 for the tournament.
