Dalton Brooks was a pretty busy guy on offense for Shiner against Ganado Friday ( September 23, 2022 )in Ganado in the district opener.

Brooks ran for 262 yards and four touchdowns, three of which were 50 yards or longer, and caught a 54-yard pass to see Shiner win 50-12.

Trace Bishop and Carson Schuette added a rushing touchdown each; the Comanche defense came up with a safety, an interception and held Ganado to just two scores.

Brooks scored twice in the opening frame - a 6-yard run at the 6:08 mark and his touchdown reception at the 1:06 mark. In the second frame, Brooks had touchdown runs of 72 and 52 yards, which sandwhiched the safety (6:01) to give gift the Comanches a 30-0 lead.

Ganado ended the shutout with nine sec onds left in the half on a 25-yard pass from Kyle Bures-Guerrero to Landon Hicks with the point after no good.

Brooks scored for the fifth and final time late in the third frame on a 68-yard run.

The Indians got within 37-12 a few minutes into the fourth quarter as Hicks and Bures-Guerrero combined for 16 yards. In the last six minutes, Bishop scored on a 33-yard run and Carson Schuette punched the ball from 4 yards out.
